The Indiana Standardbred Sales Company is currently accepting entries for its ninth annual Select Yearling Sale. Entry forms for the sale, slated for October 10 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, can be obtained by contacting sale manager Tim Konkle at (765) 759-9900. You can also email hoosierhorsereview@comcast.net for more information. This year's sale will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude in time for buyers to make it to the Lexington sale, which begins at 7 p.m.

The Indiana Standardbred Sales Company has proven year after year to be able to sell top yearlings for top dollar. Graduates from our sale read like a who's who of Indiana harness racing. All sale yearlings will be videotaped with the videos placed on our website prior to the sale and shown on the big screen during the sale.

Last year the Indiana Standardbred Sales Company hammered down seven yearlings for $20,000 or more, topped by an ABC Garland filly that brought $31,000. A total of 115 yearlings were sold for an average of just under $7,000.

The Indiana Standardbred Sale Company's 2008 Select Yearling Sale, as in previous years, was once again a success. A total of 133 yearlings were cataloged for the sale, held October 11 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds' Champions Pavilion. At day's end, 115 yearlings were sold for $801,600, good for an average of $6,970. The average showed an increase over 2007, when 102 yearlings averaged $6,169.

Bluebird Rhythm topped this year's sale with a $31,000 final bid. The ABC Garland filly, consigned by Bluebird Meadows, is the first foal of Dancer's Victory mare Tijuana Rhythm. Joe Putnam purchased the yearling as an agent for Dan Shetler.
